I...Thank you for this great article on pet obesity. I have a real 'pet' peeve with overweight, uncomfortable pets and the related unnecessary health risks that can be so easily avoided. I wanted to let you know about this new pet-friendly scale that they weigh themselves on, as a simple tool to keep an eye on your pets weight as it is easier to maintain proper weight than it is to implement and keep our furry friends on a diet regimen. I was hoping you would mention it as an option to everyone out there trying to figure out how to keep their pet fit, trim and healthy. It can be a real challenge and I am hopeful that this product will promote good health for more pets because of its ease of use.
Thank you for taking such good care of our furry friends,
Judy (NY, NY)
http://www.petfitnation.comJudyhttp://www.petfitnation.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1341776667634084741.post-50827251776116319652010-02-22T20:36:54.061-08:002010-02-22T20:36:54.061-08:00Jenni,

In the future, try to get your comments in before Sunday evening each week.

However, happy to still give you some help. My suggestion would be to not just rely on high end cat food at this point, but to consider an actual prescription weightloss diet.

Probably my two favorites for this purpose are Hills R/D and Purina DM. If you feed these no more than 1/2 a cup per day, within 30-60 days, you will very likely see some weightloss.

Your vet should be able to order these for you and they both come in both canned and dry forms.

PW, bluntly honest as always, you are right, I was off, but not because of preshow dubbage or drinking (give me some credit, man, I am a professional!). I am battling a stubborn flu and had taken some Nyquil a while before my broadcast - clearly underestimating how much that stuff throws me for a loop! The directions say to avoid operating heavy machinery after use - they should also add, do not do a public broadcast after use! You just seemed not quite yourself, a little...off.

No worries though - loved your answers as always, they were just delivered...differently.

Thanks for the tips!pw1974noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1341776667634084741.post-52481853212418635762010-02-22T04:50:19.852-08:002010-02-22T04:50:19.852-08:00My cats weight goes from 11 to 12 lbs... (age 3) after being neutered and my free feeding him -- what I now know was a BAD choice name brand food... His Vet of course gave me the lecture of potential diabetes and heart disease, if I continued to free feed, etc. and told me to switch him to a senors diet... Well I feed him a high end cat food and according to the directions and hes not losing weight (he won't eat any other types of food, just dry cat food -- so he doesn't get treats) and at his yearly checkup he hadn't gotten heavier so the vet said to continue what I am doing and didn't mention him being tested or anything... I've noticed that sometimes when my cat is sleeping he sounds like he is weezing and think it could be contributed to his weight... And he glups down water... What do you think I should do?Jenniferhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02518474776669202170noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1341776667634084741.post-34538207894973456762010-02-21T14:28:07.683-08:002010-02-21T14:28:07.683-08:00My little chihuahua mix is fat says my vet and jus...My little chihuahua mix is fat says my vet and just about everyone I know. I have feed him R/D and fed the recommended amounts and NOTHING MORE! I am not like your client in the video that gives tables snacks, not for him, not for any of my dogs.

Yet, he has not lst even an ounce in 2 months. He is 5 years old. Any advice??pw1974noreply@blogger.com
